Alexandria, La. – The LSUA men's soccer came into Senior Day knowing they had to stop the Red River Athletic Conference's top scorer, and they did so, holding Confindence Ogo to just one shot on target and held Texas College to no goals as the Generals defeated the Steers 3-0 Saturday afternoon at Generals Field.

In a battle near the top of the RRAC standings, the Generals got two punches in thanks to set pieces. In the 24th minute, the Generals were able to win a corner kick, which Matheus Barrozo stepped up to take. Barrozo sent the ball into the box where Sean French was able to get a toe onto it, redirecting the ball towards Oraine Tomlinson, who got his head on the ball and put it into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. That would be the score heading into the halftime break.

Just minutes into the second half, the Generals used another set piece to get the much-needed cushion. A foul was called against Ulysses Ortegon about 35 yards out from goal. Again, Barrozo would step up to take the free kick this time, and again he would target the foot of French on the far post. This time, French's foot would do the job as he powered the free kick inside the right post and into net to put LSUA up 2-0 in the 48th minute.

LSUA's situation got better in the 55th minute as the Steers went down a man as Tyler Null was shown his second yellow card in a span of 45 seconds and was sent off. Even down a man though, the Steers attacked, trying to get back into the match.

But it would be LSUA that got the next, and final, goal to put all hopes of a Texas College comeback to rest. Diego Marques attacked the box from the right side of the pitch and crossed it to the far post where Geoffrey Silver awaited the ball's arrival, tapping the ball into the net for the 3-0 score in the 70th minute as the Generals began to celebrate the seniors' final home match with victory all but assured.

"What a way to finish the home stand than with our seniors contributing goals and assists, along with a shutout, on Senior Day," said LSUA head coach Brocklon Chatman. "We are very satisfied with today's result, but know we still have a lot to work on as we head into a very difficult stretch of road matches to close out the regular season."

Thomas Fuller (7-2) was called on to make three saves to collect his third shutout of the season and the team's fifth clean sheet of 2017.

Oraine Tomlinson, Sean French, and Geoffrey Silver each scored their goals on their only shots on target in the match. Tomlinson and Silver each took two shots in the contest. The Generals took 22 shots in the match, compared to just seven shots for the Steers (6-3-1, 2-2-1 RRAC). Nine of LSUA's shots were on target, while only three of Texas College's were.

LSUA (8-2-1, 4-1 RRAC) take to the road for the final six matches of the regular season, starting on Thursday in Texas against Wiley. First touch against the Wildcats (6-4, 2-2 RRAC) is set for 3:30 P.M. at the Wiley Pemberton Soccer Complex.
