Alexandria, La. – The LSUA men's soccer team's offense struggled to get in gear against Houston-Victoria and the Jaguars took advantage of one set piece play, which was enough to hand LSUA its second loss of the season, a 1-0 defeat to the Jaguars Saturday at Generals Field.

The Generals took the offensive initiative early, earning early corner kicks and had two shots on goal in the 10th and 12th minutes by Sean French and Luiz Petribu, respectively, but neither could get past Jaguar goalkeeper Palemon Plancarte.

However, after that initial rush, Houston-Victoria started to take more of an offensive role. As the 27th minute of the match started, Petribu was whistled for a foul. From about 30 yards out, Reece Hannigan took the free kick, and it got on the head of Brian Foulger, who redirected it beyond the reach of LSUA goalkeeper Thomas Fuller and into the net for the match's lone goal.

Foulger nearly had a second in the 30th minute as he got it to go towards the right side of an open net, but Sean French dove in late and got a foot in to keep it from crossing the goal line, clearing it off the line to keep the score 1-0.

LSUA started to see more offensive attack in the second half. In the 64th minute, Oraine Tomlinson got in on goal, but Plancarte smothered the ball before it could get off Tomlinson's foot.

With time ticking down, LSUA had one last rush for an equalizer. The Generals won a corner kick, which Sean French was able to put on the foot of Nangee Philip. Philip's shot was blocked by a Jaguar defender, but right to Lucca Morosoli, whose last ditch effort shot soared over the crossbar as the final whistle blew.

Thomas Fuller (5-2) wasn't credited with a save in a half of work. Joe Bowles came in and played the second half, but the only shot on goal he faced in the second half was chested away by another Generals defender. Houston-Victoria (4-1, 3-0 RRAC) took seven shots with three on target.

Sean French and Luiz Petribu each took two shots with one on target. Oraine Tomlinson's lone shot of the match was also on target. LSUA took nine total shots in the match with three on net.

LSUA (6-2-1, 2-1 RRAC) look to get back on the winning track as they start the final week of home matches this season as Jarvis Christian. First touch against the Bulldogs is set for 3:30 P.M. at Generals Field.
