Alexandria, La. – Ricardo Caliman fought off a defender as he dribbled into the box and beat the St. Thomas goalkeeper for the match's only goal as the Generals men's soccer team earned their third shutout in the last four matches in a 1-0 win over the Celts Thursday afternoon at Generals Field.

The first half was a back and forth affair as both teams took four attempts at net. The only one that caused any issue for LSUA goalkeeper Thomas Fuller came in the 22nd minute as Josue Herrera's shot ended up on target and Fuller was needed to smother it. The Generals put three shots on target during the first 45 minutes, but Celt keeper Sebastian Santos was up to the challenge on all three, keeping the match scoreless as the two teams went to the halftime locker room.

LSUA started to apply more pressure in the second half, taking a pair of shots within the period's first six minutes, one on target by Lance Crabtree. But it was in the 58th minute where the Generals got the one moment it needed to get the win. Munir Poca sent the ball down the left side where it was taken in by Ricardo Caliman. Caliman drove in along the goal line from that left side, working back to a respectable shooting angle while muscling off a Celt defender who was trying to hound him, and beat Santos for the match's only goal.

Now trailing, the Celts tried to push for the equalizer, but St. Thomas (1-4-1, 0-2 RRAC) could only muster one more shot on goal throughout the remainder of the match, which was saved.

Thomas Fuller (5-1) was credited with two saves on St. Thomas's 11 shots as he picked up his second straight shutout. Dating back to the 2016 season, Fuller has recorded four straight shutouts against Red River Athletic Conference competition. The last RRAC team to score a goal against Fuller was St. Thomas in the first round of last year's postseason conference tournament.

Ricardo Caliman's goal was his fourth of the season and came on his only shot in the match. Luiz Petribu put up two shots, one on net. As a team, the Generals took eight shots and put five of them on the mark.

The Generals (6-1-1, 2-0 RRAC) look to continue their hot start in RRAC at home on Saturday against the University of Houston-Victoria (3-1, 2-0 RRAC). First touch against the Jaguars is set for 3:30 P.M. at Generals Field.
